Becoming part of the CBCP training means we have the same goals: Working Together For Our Children

Our Mission

To celebrate individuality and to be instrumental in helping parents raise independent thinkers.

To guide parents so that they are empowered and encouraged every step of their parenting journey.

To teach guidance and parenting skills in a positive manner with respect to individual family needs.

To give life to learning for all children while keeping their dignity intact.

  • As founder, it is my pleasure and my passion to pass on the knowledge and skill set I have acquired over the last 32 years. We will be bringing to you a very unique form of communication that helps parents, caregivers and educators have a sense of hope and energy. This is not a course of psychology but it is one based on brain science, developmental milestones and the art of compassionate and wise communication.
  • During your 14 week certification process, I and any of my team members will be available for any questions you may have.
  • Our goal is to see you succeed and we will work with you, providing strong mentorship.

Your Commitment to The Early Years CBC program

  • To uphold the beliefs and mission statement of The Early Years CBC program with integrity and conviction.
  • To sincerely believe in the worth and uniqueness of each child and their family, realizing that there is no problem so great that cannot be solved.
  • Understanding that all behavior is meaningful and purposeful regardless of how disruptive or difficult some situations may present.
  • To strive for utmost competence in the knowledge, skill and communication it takes to best serve families and the community at large.
  • To maintain a high degree of professionalism and objectivity in order to best serve without judgement.
  • To be knowledgeable in knowing when other professionals may be needed in unusual or special circumstances.

Admission Requirements

First and foremost is a desire to make a difference in the lives of children and their families. As space will be limited, an educational background or a related field will be considered. Previous volunteer experience working with children, families or parents is an asset.

What is the Next Step?

  • An online questionnaire is your first step.

This will include personal information and professional experience and/or education). Your questionnaire will cause you to reflect on whether this is an appropriate career goal for you.

  • Completing the interview process.

Once the questionnaire is completed and accepted, we will choose a date to speak and complete the interview process.

Certification Requirements:

  • Meet the Early Years criteria

Each student will meet the Early Years criteria to begin the certification program. Each potential student will need to be willing to make the commitment not only to the 14 week program but to complete the required reading, including case studies, and be prepared to hand in assignments.

  • Preparing a one hour observation

“Observing and Reporting” is a key component in the understanding of a child’s life in school and you will be preparing a one hour observation. You will have the support and information necessary to observe a child in a class setting.

  • Two family consults

As we get closer to the 14 week completion, it will be time to set up at least one workshop, and offer 2 families the opportunity to use your services at no charge. You will need to meet with each family for a one hour consult, write up their recap and submit it to me.

We will detail what to look for as you pick your 2 families, and at that time, you will also create your Child Behavior Intake Form.

We will take you through every step of the way. We want you to succeed, your success is super important to us.

What are the CBCP member benefits?

As we grow together, we will be creating a library of knowledge that you can access at any time. Included in the library will be most recent and up to date studies in ECE and child behavior. Access to blogs and professional anecdotes will increase knowledge and skills as a behavior specialist. As an ongoing member of CBCP we will work together towards continuing education through professional development workshops and conferences. Students will have access to an ongoing discussion board where thoughts and questions can be submitted.

Most importantly, you will be helping a whole new generation and generations to come to parent with firmness, kindness and fairness. You will have the privilege in seeing parents and caregivers become encouraged and energized. There will always be an answer, a solution and a word of encouragement that you will be able to provide. What the Graduates are Saying:

“Attending a workshop by Sharyn during my second pregnancy was life-changing. Not only did her “Tools in My Pocket” workshop open my eyes to the type of parent I wanted to be, it led me to her certification program and changed my career. Studying with Sharyn is a blessing; her passion and devotion to The Early Years Inc mission and philosophy shines through every class, every interaction with her. She is such a positive mentor in my life, personally and professionally!

With my studies and experience in social work, the CBCP certification was the perfect addition to my tool belt to delve into child development and positive parenting approaches to work with families. The program’s continuing education and community of CBCP graduates has been so valuable for both my personal and business development.  I cannot recommend this program enough to anyone who wants to bring positive support and guidance to parents raising confident, well-functioning adults through fairness, respect and kindness.”

Marie-Claude Cuerrier, Brossard, QCB.S.W., Child Behavior Specialist and Founder of Families in Bloom

The CBCP program is a life-changing certification program for many reasons. The CBCP program has positively changed my business life and social life. It teaches you to be mindful of positive communication and language when speaking to children and adults. CBCP goes in depth regarding child behavior, and it is genuinely fascinating. Everything you learn in the program is complex and so enjoyable. It will challenge you, but it will also motivate you. Sharyn, Mylee, and Shannon genuinely want you to become the best child behavior specialists, and they aim for you to thrive and succeed. I am so glad I went through the program; it is worth every penny! If you are considering joining the program, don’t hesitate, you won’t regret it. Knowledge is power!

Cassidy Leggett, Austin, TXChild Behavior Specialist

I am so grateful to have been a part of the CBCP program and to have met Sharyn. Sharyn provided a space where I felt comfortable to ask questions, problem-solve and dive deeper into learning. I now have concrete and tangible tools that I can add to my “toolbox” when working with children and their families. In addition to learning specific strategies for child behavior and development, I also graduated feeling so inspired.

Inspired to continue helping families, and educators while making an impact on those around me. In addition, I love that there’s still room to grow and develop beyond the course by connecting with other CBCP graduates and learning new perspectives. Thank you, Sharyn and all those involved in CBCP for your important work in the world!

Danielle EllisChild Behavior Specialist

I enrolled in The Early Years Certification Program for three reasons:  to better serve my pediatric sleep clients, to expand my business, and to improve my own personal parenting techniques.  Upon completion of Sharyn’s program, I feel that all three of these objectives were met above and beyond what I anticipated.  The classes were extremely informative, and Sharyn has a wonderful way of imparting knowledge to her students.  Right away I felt as though I was a part of a group of people who really want to do better for the world by helping children and parents.  Sharyn’s calm, comforting, and direct style of teaching coupled with her ability to make each and every student feel valued and heard demonstrates a level of authenticity that it sometimes difficult to find in the education world.  She is a plethora of knowledge and a true expert in this field imparting tools and strategies that will help any parent in need of behavior advice.  The teacher’s assistants were always eager to offer help outside of class hours, which was much appreciated.  I graduated feeling 100% equipped to work as a Child Behaviorist but maybe more importantly, I feel as though I am a better parent.  I am so thankful that I took the step to enroll in this wonderful program!

Jodi WillenborgChild Behavior Specialist

“I took Sharyn’s CBCP course and I am full of gratitude for being involved in this program.

I would like to say that this has been life changing not only for me but for the future of my whole family.

Sharyn has given access to so many tools and important information that I’m thirsty for more. This course just blew my mind and got me to thinking how much more I need to learn.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Sharyn Timerman!”

Jackie KramMD, FSI CERTIFIED CHILD SLEEP CONSULTANT, CBCP CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST AND FSI DIRECTOR OF THE FSI SPANISH CHILD SLEEP CONSULTANT CERTIFICATION PROGRAM

The Child Behavior Certification Program is undoubtedly the most rewarding I have ever done among all of the training I have been involved with in Early Childhood Education. Sharyn not only has a lot of knowledge about Early Childhood Development and experiences with families, but she is passionate about what she does and, more importantly, believes in you and wants you to succeed. She is a positive person and we can immediately feel her passion for teaching. She remains available at all times to answer our questions; she encourages us and motivates us to perfect our knowledge. I could not hope for a better experience being a student and working closely with Sharyn. I have learned so much about a wide range of topics such as tantrums, eating issues, potty readiness and more. I am now ready and optimistic to start offering consultations, helping many families and the next generation!

Thank you Sharyn xxx

“Getting certified through CBCP was a game changer for me, both personally and for my business. I feel more confident in handling challenging toddler situations and guiding and supporting families through the process.

Not only did I gain a deeper understanding of the whats and whys of child behavior, but most importantly the “how tos…”. I feel immensely equipped with lots of different tools to help families.

Sharyn is one of a kind… and always look forward to hearing from her and learning something new every time”.

Susie Menkes, Los Angeles, CAPhD, FSI Certified Child Sleep Consultant and CBCP Certified Behavior Specialist

Since I first heard Sharyn speak during a professional development online seminar in 2012, I was hooked to her style, deep knowledge, and wonderful way of communicating positive guidance and discipline concepts in a way that seemed simple and yet very on-point.  Not only that, but the language she uses and the method of linking these concepts to childhood development makes it easy for someone even without an early childhood background to comprehend and apply.  The information and tools she teaches in her course can be applied by any professional who has a goal of expanding their knowledge and repertoire to help families be at their best.   Throughout the years I have turned to Sharyn for help both personally with my own children, and for assistance with existing client cases.  She is always open, receptive, warm, and eager to help. Her love for children, passion for positive guidance, deep knowledge, and desire to pass this on, shines through in the content she has developed for The Early Years Child Behavior Certification Program. The practical homework and assigned readings allow you to deepen your own knowledge, make connections in the community, and get a taste for the actual work. Thank you Sharyn for this amazing opportunity!

Kristal Miller, Saskatoon,SKChild Behavior Specialist

I have worked with Sharyn’s “Tools in your Pocket” in my home for over two years.  To know her personally and then to study with her has been an honor.  The Child Behavior Certification Program has not only changed my perspective on parenting, but has instilled in me a passion to pass these messages on to other parent’s, grandparents, educators or anyone who has the opportunity to have a role in the life of a child.  I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn more about positive parenting tools in order to provide caregivers with the best possible tools for communicating with children.  The material we have learned in the CBCP inspires me to fill all my messages to children with love and respect.  These tools teach children life long lessons about who they are and how they want to affect the world around them.  Sharyn Timerman’s Child Behavior Certificate Program has changed my life, I’m certain it will touch others the way it has me.  Thank you Sharyn, what an exciting journey.

Shannon Gault, MontrealChild Behavior Specialist

Sharyn Timerman has been such a strong voice for me since I met her. She was a guest speaker for a certification program I was taking and was covering the topic of child behavior as it relates to sleep. I listened to her and was awestruck immediately! It only took a few minutes before I realized that I wanted to soak up every detail of what this amazing woman had to say. From that point on I held on to the knowledge she had shared and begged her for more. I had her help me with difficult cases I was working on that needed more detailed attention to child behavior and I learned so much in the process. I even worked with her to help me improve my own parenting skills. I just couldn’t spend enough time with Sharyn, so, when she began offering the Child Behavior Certification Program, I knew without a doubt that I could not miss this opportunity! This has been a life changing experience, and Sharyn has given me such a gift just by creating this program. When someone is as knowledgeable,  talented, and as loving as Sharyn is, that torch must be handed down and continue to burn brightly for the betterment of our future. This world will be a much better place because of Sharyn and the CBCP!

I’m blessed beyond words to announce that I will soon be sharing this knowledge to parents through my own consultations! Thank you Sharyn for being such an amazing teacher, mentor, and leader!

Love always,

The love and respect for children that Sharyn teaches both parents and Child behavior specialists in the certification program are truly amazing! The program itself is a strong, clear, logical and highly practical set of knowledge that is designed to help parents navigate the waters of raising children in modern world with values, life and social skills, knowledge of self and understanding how other people integrate in one’s life. Not only does Sharyn provide her expirience, but her teaching relies on current studies of child psycology, behavior and social skills, the experts that present specific topics are world-renowned specialists in positive parenting and new specialists come out of the program as strong advocates of strong loving families, ready to help new and expirienced parents with the bumps that inevitably come along that road.

I am a graduate of Sharyn’s child behavior training and I can’t rave enough about Sharyn! Not only has she taught me everything I need to know to be able to have healthy, positive relationships with my own children, but she has provided me with exceptional knowledge to help coach families that are experiencing behavior challenges with their children. Thank you Sharyn!

Christine Brown, Nashua, NHChild Behavior Specialist

“The CBCP program with Sharyn was a great experience for me. It set me up to start my own business as a Child Behavior Specialist where I help to empower parents to turn challenging moments into opportunities to grow and connect with their children. Parents really appreciate the tools that I teach as it allows them to better understand their children and realize that behaviors are a form of communication. Not only has it helped me professionally, but as a mom of two young girls, I have noticed my parenting style adapt to each of my daughters’ needs and help us connect in a way that I haven’t experienced before.”

Emily - Weston, MAChild Behavior Specialist and Founder of Little Love Language

Since September 2023, I have been working as a German language teacher in a private school in Armenia, where my family and I moved two years ago. I teach German to grades 1-5 and also conduct group sessions for the emotional intelligence development of preschool-aged children. The CBCP training under Sherin Timmermann played a significant role in where I find myself today. The tools I acquired through the CBCP program help me in the classroom every day: I manage to set firm and fair boundaries when children are very noisy or break the rules. It is crucial for me to see the uniqueness and good intention in each student who comes to my lesson. Knowledge of ages and stages helps me prepare material for each class in a way that is interesting and age-appropriate for the children. I mentally thank Sherin every day for the love and respect for children that she instilled in me and my colleagues during our CBCP program, and for the invaluable tools we have mastered.

Katya Popova, ArmeniaChild Behavior Specialist

I have worked as an Early Childhood Educator in Vancouver, BC for over 10 years. I have learned a lot along the way through the hands on experience of teaching 3-5 year olds, which most recently has been in the wonderful world of parent participation preschools. Now that I have completed The Early Years Program I am armed with tools and techniques that will bridge the gap between home and school, it will allow me to better support families, caregivers and fellow educators to further understand behaviors and how to manage them in a classroom or home environment. I highly recommend The Early Years Program to all educators, once completed you will be armed with knowledge and techniques that allow you to support the unique needs of each child while also guiding them and educating their families in different ways to approach their unique or day to day challenges, emotions and expectations. As an educator I have seen an uptick in the number of children and families who are struggling and asking for guidance, this program holds the answers, it allows me to take what I have gained through my years of teaching experience and  combine it with The Early Years techniques to provide an elevated level of support to children and families which fosters positive connection and supports the growth of the whole child and family system. Thanks!

Shivonne, Vancouver, BCChild Behavior Specialist

For the past year I have been working in an Indigenous daycare, in Montreal, supporting children between the ages of 2-5. The children I work with exhibit challenging behaviors in terms of emotional control/regulation, impulse control and decision making. The Child Behavior Certification course that I completed through The Early Years has given me the tools, strategies and scripts needed to support these children to the best of my ability. The knowledge and education I received through the CBCP course impacts my daily work and really benefits each and every child I work with, as well as their educators and parents.

Callie Gruber, Montreal, QCKids-First Consulting

I am a new graduate of the The Early Years CBCP and an early childhood teacher, tutor, and writing specialist.  I have been studying and working with Sharyn Timerman for the last six month and, in just that short period of time, it has been amazing to experience how the Child Behavior Certification has provided such a positive impact and provided immediate benefits to my work.  I am able to incorporate all the tools learned through this program directly in my classroom and more comfortably and confidently present these tools to families.  I have noticed immediate changes in classroom behavior and many families have expressed their thanks as they, too, have noticed positive behavior changes in their children and themselves.  Equally as valuable, I have personally experienced the positive effects this program has provided to me as a person, teacher, consultant, spouse, mom, and community member.
