As we grow together, we will be creating a library of knowledge that you can access at any time. Included in the library will be most recent and up to date studies in ECE and child behavior. Access to blogs and professional anecdotes will increase knowledge and skills as a behavior specialist. As an ongoing member of CBCP we will work together towards continuing education through professional development workshops and conferences. Students will have access to an ongoing discussion board where thoughts and questions can be submitted.
Most importantly, you will be helping a whole new generation and generations to come to parent with firmness, kindness and fairness. I enrolled in The Early Years Certification Program for three reasons: to better serve my pediatric sleep clients, to expand my business, and to improve my own personal parenting techniques. Upon completion of Sharyn’s program, I feel that all three of these objectives were met above and beyond what I anticipated. The classes were extremely informative, and Sharyn has a wonderful way of imparting knowledge to her students. Right away I felt as though I was a part of a group of people who really want to do better for the world by helping children and parents. The Child Behavior Certification Program is undoubtedly the most rewarding I have ever done among all of the training I have been involved with in Early Childhood Education. Sharyn Timerman has been such a strong voice for me since I met her. She was a guest speaker for a certification program I was taking and was covering the topic of child behavior as it relates to sleep. I listened to her and was awestruck immediately! It only took a few minutes before I realized that I wanted to soak up every detail of what this amazing woman had to say. Since September 2023, I have been working as a German language teacher in a private school in Armenia, where my family and I moved two years ago. I teach German to grades 1-5 and also conduct group sessions for the emotional intelligence development of preschool-aged children. The CBCP training under Sherin Timmermann played a significant role in where I find myself today. The tools I acquired through the CBCP program help me in the classroom every day: I manage to set firm and fair boundaries when children are very noisy or break the rules. It is crucial for me to see the uniqueness and good intention in each student who comes to my lesson. Knowledge of ages and stages helps me prepare material for each class in a way that is interesting and age-appropriate for the children. I mentally thank Sherin every day for the love and respect for children that she instilled in me and my colleagues during our CBCP program, and for the invaluable tools we have mastered.
I have worked as an Early Childhood Educator in Vancouver, BC for over 10 years. I have learned a lot along the way through the hands on experience of teaching 3-5 year olds, which most recently has been in the wonderful world of parent participation preschools. Now that I have completed The Early Years Program I am armed with tools and techniques that will bridge the gap between home and school, it will allow me to better support families, caregivers and fellow educators to further understand behaviors and how to manage them in a classroom or home environment. I highly recommend The Early Years Program to all educators, once completed you will be armed with knowledge and techniques that allow you to support the unique needs of each child while also guiding them and educating their families in different ways to approach their unique or day to day challenges, emotions and expectations. For the past year I have been working in an Indigenous daycare, in Montreal, supporting children between the ages of 2-5. The children I work with exhibit challenging behaviors in terms of emotional control/regulation, impulse control and decision making. The Child Behavior Certification course that I completed through The Early Years has given me the tools, strategies and scripts needed to support these children to the best of my ability. The knowledge and education I received through the CBCP course impacts my daily work and really benefits each and every child I work with, as well as their educators and parents.
I am a new graduate of the The Early Years CBCP and an early childhood teacher, tutor, and writing specialist. I have been studying and working with Sharyn Timerman for the last six month and, in just that short period of time, it has been amazing to experience how the Child Behavior Certification has provided such a positive impact and provided immediate benefits to my work.
